Local Infertility Specialist Expands Women's Services to Solano County -March 20, 2008

Infertility specialist Ernest Zeringue, M.D. is now seeing patients in Solano County through Sutter Regional Medical Foundation (SRMF).

Dr. Zeringue is the founder of California IVF: Davis Fertility Center, Inc. His practice includes infertility services such as in vitro fertilization, advanced genetic testing, men's infertility and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Dr. Zeringue also performs a number of gynecological procedures, such as female tubal reversal, at Sutter Fairfield Surgery Center. The procedure, which is often considered by insurance companies to be an elective procedure and paid for on a cash basis, is offered by only a handful of doctors in the U.S.

"We're unique in offering tubal reversal. By using the outpatient surgery center this cost model allows more people to consider the surgery as an option. I see people who are coming from all over the West Coast, some even from the East Coast," Dr. Zeringue says.

With the addition of Dr. Zeringue, SRMF is able to further expand its services for women and men who struggle with fertility. His medical services add to the entire scope of services in women's health care now available through SRMF- including urogynecology, infertility, adolescent gynecology, and low and high risk obstetrics care.

In addition, Dr. Zeringue's research interests include insulin resistance as it relates to weight and infertility problems. He has successfully implemented a diet regimen that has been extremely effective in helping women conceive or improve their odds.

"With new infertility technology and increased fertility rates, it is fairly uncommon that we can't find options for pregnancies," Dr. Zeringue says.

Dr. Zeringue received his undergraduate degree from College of Charleston in S.C. and his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina. His obstetrics and gynecology residency was completed at Keesler Air Force Base. Following residency, he attended fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Duke University in Durham, N.C. He then served for four years as the Division Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base.

Dr. Zeringue is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; American Society for Reproductive Medicine; and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Patients who visit California IVF: Davis Fertility Center often tell the doctor they feel more comfortable at the clinic, says Dr. Zeringue. "What sets us apart is that there's much more of a family atmosphere here," Dr. Zeringue says, adding that he and his wife Alisa, who also works as a nurse at the fertility center, have three daughters. "Patients undergo stressful procedures here, and we can help to take the burden off them."

Dr. Zeringue's office is located at California IVF: Davis Fertility Center, 1550 Drew Ave. Suite 100, in Davis. The phone number is 530-771-0177.
