Sutter Regional Medical Foundation
Nurse Practitioner Joins After-Hours Clinic
Nurse Practitioner Darlinda Shirmand has joined Sutter Regional Medical Foundation’s (SRMF) After-Hours Clinic in Fairfield, which opened July 2007. With years of nursing experience and an advanced degree, Shirmand is well qualified to diagnose and treat clinic patients.
Shirmand has responsibilities similar to the physicians at the clinic, treating patients who have various non-emergency injuries and illnesses. She is supervised by a staff physician who co-signs her orders and prescriptions.
Shirmand began her career as a registered nurse in orthopedics and trauma at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, Calif. Subsequently, she worked with a family medical group in Benicia Calif., and then joined a management team at a hospice agency in Walnut Creek.
Wanting to further advance her career, Shirmand sought a master’s degree from the University of California, San Francisco and became a Nurse Practitioner.
“Patient care is what I missed most in my previous role,” says Shirmand. “I’m thrilled to join the expert team at this brand-new facility and to be working closely with patients all the time.”
Outside of work, Shirmand takes the opportunity to nurture her own family—she has three children, two stepchildren and four grandchildren. She enjoys traveling to the Oregon coast with her husband, and she considers herself an avid scrapbooker and a Disney enthusiast.
In addition to the After-Hours Clinic in Fairfield, which primarily serves south-County patients, SRMF operates an After-Hours Clinic in Vacaville to care for north-County patients.
