New Patient Care Facility Rising in Fairfield
Thanks to a winter that had fewer rainy days than normal, the construction of a 69,000-square-foot, three-story medical office building on the Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus in Fairfield has happened quickly. The project has been going well since the November 2006 groundbreaking — the state-of-the-art facility should be ready for patients, staff and physicians by November 2007.
Carolyn Appenzeller, R.N., chief operating officer at Sutter Regional Medical Foundation (SRMF), says that everyone at the Empire Street facility is excited about the upcoming move. This includes primary and specialty care physicians from Solano Regional Medical Group, the multi-specialty group affiliated with SRMF, who have been practicing at the facility since the late 1980s.
Designed for Both Patients and Doctors
"We had a choice to make since our lease on Empire Street will expire this year," says Appenzeller. "The facility has served us well, but we’ve outgrown it and it no longer meets our needs. We’re looking forward to relocating to our beautiful new building, which we’ve designed to better meet the needs of our patients and practitioners."
The new location will have improved spaces for primary care and specialty practices, laboratory services and administrative support services. A refreshment/snack area will be provided for patients, who will also benefit from:
- Added comfort in an environment designed with plenty of light and space
- A more efficient layout, making it easier for patients to find their way around
- Advanced technologies
One-Stop Care
Because the new facility will be located on the existing Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus, patients will be able to take care of most of their medical care needs in one location. The new facility is next to the existing medical offices that house surgical specialties. An urgent care center is also scheduled to open in June in the same area. A covered walkway will connect the new offices to the advanced Diagnostic Imaging Center and Ambulatory Surgery Center.
"Providing quality medical care is at the forefront of what we do, but we never lose sight of the importance of customer service," says Appenzeller. "We think our patients will enjoy the convenience of visiting one campus for all their outpatient services needs."
